EFCI Privacy Policy

The EFCI is an international non-profit association registered under Belgian law (Transparency Register Identification Number: 79863609229-39). The EFCI collects and processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (also called “GDPR Regulation”).

COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA 

“Personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“data subject”); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

The EFCI does not process “sensitive” data such as, but not limited to, race or ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical convictions, your life and/or sexual orientation or your health.

We may collect personal data about you from the following sources:

  • Personal data you provide us when you contact us via email or telephone, or by receiving your business card, or subscribe to our newsletter, or register or attend one of our events.  This information might include your name, address, email address, phone number and any other information relevant to the event or service that you’re registering for.
  • Personal data that you choose to make public.
  • Information collected when visiting our website. To make this site work properly, we use cookies. A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

In accordance with art. 6 of the GDPR Regulation, the EFCI will process your data when:

  1. You give us your consent to the processing of your personal data for one or more specific purposes;
  2. Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the EFCI, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.

Our legitimate interests in processing personal data include:

  • to provide you information about the activities and purposes of the EFCI and its members;
  • to communicate effectively with you to respond to your requests;
  • to invite you to events organised by, or on behalf of the EFCI, that might interest you.

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

The EFCI may share your personal information for the purposes mentioned above with:

  • Service providers, in connection with the operation of this website, including website hosting, the provision of technology related services and promotional material distribution;
  • Public authorities, government regulators or other law enforcement officials and the courts, as required or permitted by law or when compelled by a binding order.

PROTECT AND KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA

The EFCI is committed to employ the appropriate technical security measures and procedures to protect your personal information and ensure that unauthorized persons do not access it. All personal data that we gain from personal contacts, mailings and the website are structurally recorded by the EFCI and they are not passed on to third parties. The EFCI shall only store your personal data for the period necessary to achieve and fulfill the purposes in question as described above.

EXERCISING YOUR RIGHTS

According to the GDPR Regulation, you have the following rights with regard to the personal data that we process:

  • The right to Access and Data and the right to Data Portability art. 15 and art. 20

You have the right to access all personal data concerning you. You have the right to receive confirmation as to whether your personal data is or is not being processed, and to be informed of the purposes for which we process it, the type of data that is processed, the persons and entities who receive the data, and how long your data is stored. You also have the right to receive a copy of the personal data that you have provided, and to send it (or ask us to send it) to another entity responsible for processing personal data.

  • The right to Correct/Delete Data – The right to Be Forgotten art. 16 and art. 17

You have the right to ask for data concerning you to be corrected if you realise that it is inaccurate or incomplete. You also have the right to ask for your personal data to be deleted if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. If you gave us consent to process your personal data, you have the right to withdraw this permission at any time.

  • The right to Limit Data Processing art. 18

You have the right to require us to limit the processing of your data: (i) when you contest the accuracy of the data; (ii) when you object to the data being deleted and demand instead that it be used in a limited fashion; or (iii) when we no longer need to process your data, but you still require it for the purposes of establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.

  • The right to Object art. 21

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons which result from your particular situation. The EFCI shall then no longer process the personal data, unless it can prove compelling and legitimate reasons for the processing, which outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to claim, exercise or defend legal claims.
