EFCI launches AI Readiness Toolkit for cleaning and facility services companies
The European Cleaning and Facility Services Industry (EFCI), together with the World Federation of Building Service Contractors (WFBSC) and the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), has launched a new AI Readiness Toolkit to support cleaning and facility services companies in the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.
Officially launched at the EFCI Connect 2026 event in Mallorca, Spain, the toolkit provides practical resources to help companies assess their readiness for AI, establish appropriate governance frameworks and integrate AI solutions into their operations.
Developed by specialist AI training and consultancy provider CBAi, the toolkit responds to growing interest in AI across the sector and the increasing need for guidance as organisations navigate new technological and regulatory developments, including the EU AI Act.
The toolkit is intended for companies at all stages of AI adoption, from those exploring the potential of AI for the first time to organisations already using AI-enabled tools. The first set of resources includes:
- An AI policy template;
- AI readiness checklists;
- A sector-specific prompt library;
- An AI governance essentials guide;
- Additional practical implementation resources.
Recognising the international nature of the cleaning and facility services industry, the toolkit is available in six languages (EN, FR, DE, ES, PT, IT).
Speaking at the launch, EFCI President Avril McCarthy highlighted the importance of providing practical support to the sector:
“AI adoption will look different from company to company and market to market. What contractors share, however, is the need for trusted, practical guidance. This collaboration allows us to combine expertise and perspectives from across the industry to create resources that contractors can adapt to their own organisations.”
The initiative reflects a shared commitment by EFCI, WFBSC and BSCAI to help companies understand both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with AI adoption.
The AI Readiness Toolkit is available as a benefit to EFCI and CIRCLE members here. If you are interested in receiving access, contact the EFCI Secretariat at secretariat@efci.eu.
By bringing together expertise from Europe and beyond, the three organisations aim to ensure that cleaning and facility services companies have access to practical, industry-focused guidance on the effective and responsible use of AI.
